INTRODUCTION TO THE STUDY
Marketing to a great extent, helps in the development of the standard of products, service and increase the standard of all fields. Marketing, itself being the complex mechanism, involved a number of employments. The field of marketing engages about 35% of total labor force directly or indirectly.
The producers, consumers and the middleman look viewpoint. The producers are interested in selling their products at such remunerative price as would enable them to continue to produce or stay in their business. A consumer looks at the market from the goods and the prices at which they are offered.

The Nilgiris District Co-Operative Milk Supply Unions Started during 1937 and The Nilgiris District Co-Operative Milk Producers Union limited which was started during 1976, were amalgamated and started functioning from 15-09-1979 in the name of “THE NILGIRIS DISTRICT CO-OPERATIVE MILK PRODUCERS UNION LIMITED”. This union is serving the rural farmers, especially the milk producers and the consumers of Nilgiris District.
This union has sought the financial assistance From National Dairy Development Board and implemented the OF-II and OF-III programmers from 1-4-1982 to 31-3-1985 and from 1-10-1987 to 31-3-1994 at the cost of Rs.4.61 corers and 3.213 cores respectively.
The new dairy compels is established with a cost of Rs.3.70 crores in 36 acres hand at Perur Pachapalayam. The present handling capacity is 2.5LLPD (lakhs Liters per Day). There are 729 Co-Operative Milk Producers society which are member of this union.
At present the Nilgiris District Co-Operative Milk Producers Union Limited is processing 1-50 LLPD. To continue to serve the farmers of this district, this union need and adopt the various strategies and technologies of the 21st century , due to globalization of all the commodities and free export and import policies of the government of India, the milk Co-operatives should also arise up to the occasion and get accommodated in the globalization.
INDUSTRY PROFILE
The milk industry in India plays an important role in the country. The state government runs the co-operative unions in the state and they have their own federation and the government supply milk through their state.

Amul - Gujarat
Nandhi – Karnataka
Milk is purchased from the producers and the procurement level and the process has made in milk and milk products and distributed for sales.
The unions are formed for the welfare and development of the produces. Some of private industries in Tamil Nadu are:

HATSUN : AROKIYA MILK
ABT : SAKTHI MILK
CAVIN CARE : CAVIN’S MILK
